Cross Stitch Updates – The Finishes

Although I have not been as prolific as I was in 2011 I still managed to cross stitch while I was sick the past three years. Here are some of the finishes – or at least the ones I remembered to take a photo of.

Embroidery Guild

The center lady of Embroidery Guild by Little House Needlework has a half-head!

I plan on replacing the words Embroidery Guild Est.1779 at the bottom of the piece with RI Stitchers Est. 2010 to commemorate the founding of my stitch n bitch group with my friend Measi.

This is going to be such a scattered list of random asides there was really no other title for it!

I hate weeknight West Coast swings for my East Coast hockey team. I can never stay awake for them and feel personally responsible when their play sucks since I was not there to cheer them on.

I am so excited to give my oldest niece her birthday present tomorrow. I’ve had it picked out for so long and am busting at the seams to see her with it. I also can’t believe that tomorrow she is 22 years old and a most beautiful woman.

Snow is beautiful when I don’t have to drive in it with reckless drivers.

I cannot believe how thrilling the two Hockey East college games were. I had given my dad tickets to see Providence, Harvard, Boston College and Boston University. The compete levels of this guys were phenomenal and much better than what I have been seeing at the AHL level lately.

It is seriously making me rethink the season ticket package I have for the Providence Bruins!

February has even more packed into it than January! Not sure how that is even possible!

The Rhode Island Stitchers have a meetup on the 5th. Yay! I really hope some of the nice people that have stopped by the past couple of events come back!

The Stitcher’s Hideaway Alumni Retreat is at the end of the month. I have been saving my pennies so I can go stash shopping in my slippers!

In between is the Red Wings game in Boston. Seats are fantastic (thanks Dad) one section over from center, within 10 rows of ice level and in the Bruins defensive zone (our favorite zone to sit in).

This game brings me one team closer to my goal of seeing all Original Six teams play. NY Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens have already been seen and the Toronto Maple Leafs are slotted for the end of March!

In other happy news I have booked a room for the Spring Celebration of Needlework in Nashua, NH and booked my company’s condo for a Stitch N’ Bitch weekend!

New stash came in the mail today! What a pick me up that was! I bought a pattern to make for a family member, some linen, the GAST hand dyeds for Blue Ribbon Designs Afraid of the Dark sampler AND I couldn’t resist LHN Needlework Guild and the Crescent Colors to go with it!

We wants it. We needs it. Part I

Too much Lord of the Rings movies lately?

Too much drooling over new stash I want.

“We wants it.” 🙂

Over the summer I picked up the pattern for Raise the Roof’s Witchy Washy

I love it for all its wonderful witchy-ness and tongue-in-cheek humor. After stalking RTR’s website I decided I would love to have the seasonal collection! This way I can enjoy them all.

My next stash goal will be to pick up Santa Clothes.

I am sure Turkey Dressing will be added at some point as well.

Some other goodies I have my eye on are Little House Needlework’s Little Women series. I am an absolute sucker for Little Women. I have a gorgeous, illustrated copy of Little Women from 1947 that my mother gave me. I have two copies of the movie – the 1933/Katharine Hepburn version and the 1949/June Allyson/Elizabeth Taylor/Janet Leigh one. The 1949 one is my favorite. June Allyson makes a delightfully spunky, effervescent Jo!

I am also drawn to

I already have two of Brooke Nolan’s witches – Fiona the Fay and Gwendolyn the Great and  her Spirit of America Angel.

so ends the drooling for new stash I want….for now.
